Using the On-Screen
Display
You can check the current operating status
and disc information of VIDEO CDs,
CD-Gs or audio CDs during play or stop
mode by superimposing a display on top of
the images on your TV screen.
Press ON SCREEN.
Each time you press the button, the on-
screen display changes as follows:
ON SCREEN 1 m ON SCREEN 2

ON SCREEN 1 display
Momentary display of operating status
when you perform an operation (like
starting playback, etc.).

“PLAY” when you start playback
“STOP” when you stop playback
“PAUSE” when you pause playback
During stop mode in Program Play
1 Color system
2 Total playing time of the program
3 Programmed disc and track numbers
(VIDEO CDs with PBC functions (Ver 2.0))

Notes
Track numbers from 1 to 20 are displayed
in the front panel display (Music
Calendar). Tracks numbered in excess of
20 are not displayed.
“--.--” appears in the display when the
total playing time is 100 minutes or more.
Information displayed while playing
an audio CD, CD-G, or a VIDEO CD
without PBC functions (Ver 1.1)
The current track number, playing time of
current track, and the music calendar
appear. The track numbers in the music
calendar disappear after they are played.
Information displayed while playing
VIDEO CDs with PBC functions
(Ver 2.0)
The track numbers and music calendar do
not appear. However, while the menu
screen is displayed on the TV screen, the
item numbers you can select in the menu
appear in the music calendar.
To check the total playing
time and the total number
of the tracks
Press DISPLAY during stop mode.
The information also appears when you
press § OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc
tray.
ON SCREEN 2
Momentary display of operating status
when you perform an operation (like
starting playback, etc.).
During playback, either the elapsed time or
remaining time on the current track is
usually displayed.

During stop mode in Program Play
Display is the same as ON SCREEN 1.
ON SCREEN 3
During playback, this screen displays the
operating status.
During stop mode, it displays information
about the CD(s) on the disc tray.
In Normal or Shuffle Play mode
1 Play mode
2 “ALL DISCS” or “1 DISC”
3 Current disc number
4 Color system
5 Current track number
6 Type of the disc
7 Elapsed time on the current track
8 Music calendar
In Program Play
1 “PLAY” when you start playback
“PAUSE” when you pause playback
2 Indicates the current track
