Troubleshooting
If you experience any of the following difficulties while
using the CD Receiver, use this troubleshooting guide
to help you remedy the problem. Should any problem
persist, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
There’s no sound.
/Connect the audio connecting cord firmly.
/Connect the CD Receiver and other audio
components correctly.
/Connect the aerials.
/Press the function button of the appropriate
programme source.
/You have not pressed the SPEAKER A or B
button.
No audio from one channel or unbalanced speaker output.
/Turn BAL to adjust the balance.
/Check the speaker and input connections of the
silent channel.
Weak bass or treble.
/Change speaker positions or room conditions to
eliminate obstructions in sound path.
Distorted sound.
/Improperly selected input signal

/Insufficient input capacity of speakers. Lower
the volume.
Lack of bass or ambiguity in instrument positions.
/Speaker cord and terminal polarity are
reversed. Reconnect the cords with correct
polarity.
Hum or noise.
/Connect the audio connecting cords firmly.
/The CD Receiver is picking up interference
from a TV set. Move the CD Receiver away
from the TV set or turn the TV set off.
The remote does not function.
/Remove the obstacles in the path of the remote
and the CD Receiver.
/Point the remote at the remote sensor g on the
CD Receiver.
/The remote is too far from the CD Receiver.
Move closer to the CD Receiver.
/Replace both batteries in the remote with new
ones if they are weak.
Notes on CDs
On handling CDs
To keep the disc clean, handle the disc by its edge. Do not
touch the surface.
Do not stick paper or tape on the CD.
Not this way
Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight or heat sources
such as hot air ducts, nor leave it in a car parked in direct
sunlight as there can be considerable rise in temperature
inside the car.
Do not use any commercially available stabiliser and/or
disc protector. If you do, the CD and this unit may be
damaged.
After playing, store the CD in its case.
On cleaning
Before playing, clean the disc with a cleaning cloth. Wipe
the CD from the centre to out.
Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner,
commercially available cleaners or anti-static spray
intended for vinyl LPs.
