Recording with an External Microphone
or Other Equipment
You can record sound of an external microphone or other equipment (tape
recorder, telephone, or etc.) with the IC recorder. You can also record the
sound of the IC recorder with other equipment. Depending on the device
you use, connect the IC recorder as follows. For available accessories,
consult with your nearest Sony dealer.
Recording with an External Microphone
Connect an external microphone to the EAR/MIC jack.
When you connect an external microphone, the built-in microphone is
automatically cut off. When a plug in power type microphone is
connected, power is automatically supplied to the microphone from the IC
recorder.
1 Recommended types of microphones
You can use the following Sony electret condenser microphones:
Zoom microphone ECM-Z60
ECM-T15, or ECM-T115
ECM-DM5P
1 Using the built-in microphone and an external microphone
The built-in microphone, an all-directional and standard sensitivity
microphone, is suitable for recording a dictation or a meeting. (When
recording a dictation, set the SENSE to L. When recording a meeting, set the
SENSE to H.) (Page 53)
An external microphone such as ECM-DM5P, a unidirectional and high
sensitivity microphone, is suitable for recording a lecture or an interview.
(When the speaker is located far from you, set the SENSE to H to record sound
in better quality.)
