Using the DVD-ROM drive (continued)
For notebook computers with Windows
R
2000 Professional
1 Terminate the software application that is using
the DVD-ROM drive.
2 Double-click the icon in the taskbar on the
right side of the display.
3 Click [Sony CardBus ATAPI] from the [Hardware
devices] list in [Remove Hardware] and click [Stop].
4 If [Stop a Hardware device] appears, confirm
[Sony CardBus ATAPI] is displayed and then click
[OK].
5 Confirm that “The ‘Sony CardBus ATAPI’ device
can now be safety remove from the system.” is
displayed and then click [OK].
6 Press the PC card slot eject button on the
computer.
The PC card ejects from the connector. Grasp the
card by the edges and pull it out.
Transporting
The PC card and cable can be stowed in the bottom of
the DVD-ROM drive as illustrated below. This is
convenient when transporting the unit.
1 Attach the PC card with the “SONY“ logo side
facing the bottom of the DVD-ROM drive. If you
attach the PC card upside down, the cable may
twist and may not fit into the groove.
2 Fit the cable into the groove.
3 Attach the ferrite core part of the cable to the rear
of the DVD-ROM drive.
Tip
If the icon does not
appear on the taskbar,
display it by following the
procedure below.
1 Click the [Start] button,
point to [Settings], and
then click [Control
Panel].
2 Double-click [Add/
Remove Hardware].
3 If [Add/Remove
Hardware Wizard]
appears, click [Next].
4 Select “Uninstall/
Unplug a device“ and
then click [Next].
5 Select “Unplug/Eject a
device“ and then click
[Next].
6 Select “Sony CardBus
ATAPI” and then click
[Stop].
7 Confirm that “Sony
CardBus ATAPI” is
displayed and then
click [Next].
8 Click [Finish].
9 Press the PC card slot
eject button on the
computer.
