Notes on use
Do not place the unit in locations that are:
Extremely hot or cold
Dusty or dirty
– Very humid
– Vibrating
Strong magnetic fields
– Sandy
Exposed to direct sunlight
Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
Make sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of the unit. If this
happens, a short-circuit may occur and the unit may be damaged.
Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord.
Do not operate the unit if the unit itself has been dropped or damaged.
Always keep the metal contacts clean.
Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
While in use, it is normal for the unit to get warm.
Keep the unit away from TV or AM receivers, because it can disturb TV or AM reception.
When connecting or disconnecting the unit, handle it carefully.
When transporting the unit, prevent foreign objects from causing a malfunction by using the
battery pack, the port covers and the supplied slot protectors if there is any.
When transporting your computer, be sure to remove the unit first. Moving your computer
with the unit installed could cause the unit to fall off, resulting in personal injury, or damage
to the unit or your computer.
If there are any dust or dirt particles on the port replicator connector, your computer may not
be able to detect the port replicator when it is connected (even if the particles are invisible to
the eye).
If the connection seems to be poor, remove the AC power adapter and battery, and wipe off
the connector and the area around it on both the computer and the unit. Commercial air
dusters are also effective for blowing away residual dust and dirt.
Be careful not to damage the connector while cleaning them.
When connecting the unit to a personal computer, remove the AC power adapter, LAN cable,
HDMI cable, and display cable from the computer.
Simultaneous use of the HDMI output port and the MONITOR port is not possible.
Additionally, simultaneous use of the HDMI output port or the MONITOR port on your
computer and the HDMI output port or the MONITOR port on the port replicator is not
possible.
When the unit is connected to a personal computer, use the HDMI output port or
MONITOR port of the unit.
The port replicator has a protective sticker covering each network (LAN) port. Connect a
10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T cable to the network (LAN) port. Using an incorrect
cable, such as a phone cable, may result in an electric current overload that can cause a
malfunction, excessive heat, or fire in the network (LAN) port.
It is extremely important that you replace the port replicator connector cover after
disconnecting your computer from the port replicator. If the connector is left uncovered, dust
may get inside and damage the computer.
When sending a 3D video signal via the HDMI output port of this unit, select the STAMINA
mode with the performance selector switch on your computer.
On cleaning
Clean the unit with a soft dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent
solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may damage the
finish.
